This summer I'm spending my time studying the recent history (1980-2005) of crime and crime policy in the City of Lowell. This study will look at the nature of crime and public safety policy in Lowell over this period of time, attempting to describe and explain how these community elements evolved. I'm working with colleagues to collect and analyze lots of existing data, but also interviewing a diverse set of stakeholders who have interesting and fascinating stories to tell about public safety during these years. The study will tell the public safety story in the broader context of community development.
